Many times we need someone to walk with us as we go through times of change in our life journeys.  Often these times lead us to reflect on where we have been and where we sense we are being called to go.  In times of change we are filled with questions, fears, doubts and we do not know if we are able to take the step we feel deep in our heart we know we need to take -- the costs seem too great.

Coaching is a process of one person walking alongside the other who is going through this time of change -- be it in one's life journey or spiritual journey.  Coaching is not therapy, nor is it advice giving, rather it involves listening, asking thoughtful questions, and providing encouragment so that the one trying to sort through next steps is able to hear and see more clearly how and where God's calling upon their life is leading them. 

Roland uses numerous processes to guide each person in developing an awareness leading towards discerning and discovering their purpose, calling or vocation in life.  As this awareness is developed, Roland walks alongside to encourage each person to step out in fulfilling their life purposes.

Roland has spent many hours of walking with, listening to, and encouraging persons in the midst of life transitions as they seek to set a fresh course or to process through life questions. 

His experience grows out of his journeying with people in church and academic contexts for over 22 years, guiding them to find meaning, purpose and direction in their lives.

Rates

For the first two sessions there is no charge while we assess together whether this will be a good relationship for you and to assess what your coaching needs are. 

Once that is determined and should you decide to go on, I will design at 10 hour coaching plan, for which I charge a nominal fee of $495. 

If more hours are needed following the fulfillment of the coaching plan, a nominal hourly rate is charged.   

My Own Experience 

I am in the midst of exploring my own time of

transition in which I have rediscovered my calling and rediscovered who I am as I develop new eyes to see and new ears to hear.  Much of my previous life and ministry has been lived out in light of the expectation of others, however, over this past year, at my own time of midlife, I have realized that my life has only been half-lived -- in both of its meanings.  I realize, in light of biblical figures such as Abraham and Moses, that I choose to live the rest of my life and engage in ministry much more fully in light of where God is leading. 

The following poem, is something I wrote early in this process and it has become a marker for me reminding me "never to go back to Egypt."

Life

Full of passion, full of purpose

Embracing, involving all that I am

Focused, directed, seeking

Everything that I have been called to be

Can life be lived within a box?

A quart of soil to bed my roots?

Windowless walls to set my gaze?

Folded flaps to hide the stars?

Can lilies of the field flourish in garden plots?

Can sparrows be held in fenced in yards?

Roots matted, tangled in potted soil

Seek soil that enables limitless depths

Life hindered, constrained, boxed in

Seeks horizons beyond the sun

Life

For which I am created, called

To live

Seeks first the horizonless, limitless

Reign of God
